TUAPEKA GOLDFIELDS HOSPITAL.

A special meeting took place on Saturday, 28tfh inst. Present — Dr. Halley, Messrs Armstrong, 11 ill, Hills, Walker, Ilarr-op (in the chair), and Hayes (Secretary.) The minutes were read and confirmed. Dr. Hally complained of neglect on the part of the Visiting Committee, in not advising the gardener at present employed in laying out the grounds adjoining the Hospital, what to do. A letter from Mr. Hislop, stating that a consignment of books had been forwarded to the Hospital was read. Dr. Stewart stated the books had been received, and would prove a lasting boon to the Institution. The Resident Surgeon's report was laid on the table, from which we observed that during the month, there had been 9 patients admitted and 9 discharged. The number remaining in the Hospital at present, being 9. The Visitiug Committee's report was read and received. Mr Geo. Walker was appointed member of Visiting Committee, vice Mr. Armstrong, retired, Mr. E,. Hills proposed that the annual report be printed as soon as possible. Mr. Walker seconded. Carried. The tender box was then opened, and the supplies for the ensuing six months decided upon : — Milk, David Herd. 3£d, accepted ; Hugh M'Kee, sd. Meat, Wm. Draper, 2|d all round — the only tender. Firewood and lignite, George Thompson ; firewood, £2 15s. ; lignite, 17s. 6d. — only tender. Bread, James Harris, 7d. 4lb loaf — only tender. Groceries. — There were two • tenders, Thomas Arthur and James Harris. Mr. Arthur's tender being lowest in the principal leading articles, was accepted — the tenderer, however, stipulating that the prices he quoted were for monthly payments, otherwise bank interest would be added.

A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the proceedings.
