A public meeting was held at Coghill's Hotel, Havelock, on Wednesday, June the 18th, for the purpose of taking into consideration the desirability of holding a ploughing match at an early date in the Waitahuna district. After a few remarks from one or two other gentlemen in snpport of the movement, the following motion was submitted to the meeting and carried :—": — " That, in the opinion of this meeting, it is desirable that a ploughing match be held in the Waitahuna district." Mr. It. Craig moved • " That a Committee consisting of seven be appointed, with power to add to their number, to carry out arrangements in connection with the proposed match."
The following gentlemen were then elected a Committee for the purpose :—: — Messrs. Ford, Craig, W. Auld, M'Taggart, A. M'Cprkindale, Coghill, and Moggath.
