GIFT AUCTION. milE Committee of the Lawrence WesX leyan Methodist Church being desirous of removing a heavy debt upon their Church and Circuit, having decided on holding a Gift Auction Sale early in July next, appeal to the Members, Adherents •af the Church, and the Public generally in the Tuapeka, Waitahuna, Tnapeka Mouth, and Waipori Districts for their aasistance in bringing the same to a^ successful issue. The Committee accordingly invite Donations in Cash or any kind of Goods— viz., Articles of Wearing Apparel, Knitting, Crochet Work, Drapery, Stationery, Ironmongery, Furniture (new or secondhand), Grocery, Farm Produce, and Live Stock of any description. The following persons have been appointed Collectors, and will thankfully receive any contributions sent in for sale : — Messrs. Coverlid, Tonks, Downie, Matthews, Fargher, Bentley, and M'Gillvray ; also Mesdames Tonks, Matthews, and Bentley, Lawrence. Messrs. Luke, Cooper, Carey, and Uren ; and Mesdames Luke and Carey, Blue Spar. Live Stock will be received one day prior to sale. N. A PPLICATIONS will be received till ■&- 31st May, 1873, for the purchase of the exclusive use for the District of Lawrence, for Hogben's Patent Apparatus for Supplying the Syrup in the Manufactuie of iErated Beverages and other liquids, and Stopper for bottles. The Pump supplies the required quantity of Syrup into each bottle at the same time a3 the bottle is filled with JErated Water. It saves the labor of two men in Bottling, and is also applicable to other purposes, such as drawing or measuring any required quantity of liquor, cr forcing any required qiiantity of liquid to any place. The Stopper for bottles containing oerated or gaseous liquids, such as lemonade, ginger beer, or soda water, is self-acting — the Stopper closes the bottle when it is filled by the pressure of the gaseous liquid from within, and the bottle is opened by applying pressure on the top of the Stopper from without. They never wear out, do away entirely with cork, wire, and string, are inexpensive, &c. The Stopper, being made of lignum or glass vitae, never wear out ; are self-acting in stoppering when filled, doing entirely away with cork, wire, and string. These Patents are extensively used in England. America, and the Colonies. They can be seen in full working order on our premises in Dunedin and Oamaru.
