RECEPTION OF THE AUCKLAND VOLUNTEERS.

Auckland, March 20. The volunteer representatives were entertained at a banquet last night. About 160 persons were present. Mr Yogel spoke at length in f ivor of volunteering. The Grahamstown representatives arrived to-day, and were accompanied by a number of the Auckland volunteers, by Major Gordon, the Mayor of Auckland, the Superintendent, and Mr Yogel. The day was observed as a half • holiday. Two thousand people welcomed them at Tararu, and all the volunteers paraded. The representative men were loudly cheered, and publicly welcomed by Mr Warden Frazer. Lieut. Hoskins, the champion, was carried on his comrades' shoulders to Grahamstown. A banquet is to be held to-night. The Chief Justice was sworu in to-day as Acting.Governor by Judge Johnston. The Caledonian Mine is looking better. Wellington, March 20.
