THE TAIERI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY'S SHOW.
The eleventh annual show of the Taieri Agricultural Society took place Dec. 18, at the sale paddock of Messrs Driver, Stewart, and Co., at Mosgicl. The weather in the earlier part of the day was exceedingly fine, if anything the weather being rather too hot. We do not think this was any drawback to the inns on the roads or the stock on the ground, but of that they can report better than we. The paddock is w*U suited for the purpose to which it was devoted yesterday, as it is easily accessible and a dead level. The number of visitors exceeded all expectation. It is a hopeful sign when women become interested in any industrial punnit. Their singleness of purpose and determination to carry through whatever they set themselves to do is usually rewarded with success. To-day they mustered in great numbers, and the proceedings were enlivened by the very excellent music of the Mosgiel brassband, of some four or five months' growth. The tedium was also relieved by dancing on rather an extensive scale. The chief attraction at Mosgiel was the show of draught brood mam. Anumbor were exhibited of form and size that we never saw excelled. There were some very handsome short-horned cattle shown, but the sheep were neither numerous nor very choice. The dairy produce was excellent, and proves what may be done by persons who have knowledge as well as will to apply it. Our space will not allow UB to do more than give the list o£ prizes SHOB.T- HORNS. Bull, calvedbeforelst August, 1870.— First prize, L 3, E. A.
