WESLEYAN SOUTHERN DISTRICT MEETING.

The annual assembly of ministers and lay representatives of the southern district of New Zealand, comprising Otago and the greater part of Canterbury, met in Christchurch on Thursday, Nov. 34th. There were 16 ministers, including the Rev. Mr. Te Kote — who has the oversight of the Maori work in Canterbury — and 16 laymen. The session lasted 7 days. Mr. F. Dewsbury, of Christcurch, wasreceivt«dand recomraende-i to the Conference as a candidate for the ministry. Five probationers underwent the usual theological and literary examinations. The Revs. W. Keali and W. H. Beck, having exercised their ministry as probationers for the usual period of four years, were cordially and unanimously recommended to the Con ; ference to be received into full connexion. During the year new churches have been erected in the Christchurch, St. Albans, Kaiapoi, and Invercargill circuits ; and one parsonage in the Lawrence circuit. The following sums were voted from the Home Mission Fund :— Students' expenses, L 80;8 0; New Zealand Wesley&n, LlO ; Lawrence parsonage, LSO ; and to the Port Chalmers circuit, LBO. Out of the Maori and" Foreign Mission Fund L 34 was voted to the work in Fiji, and L7O to the Maori Mission in Otago and Canterbury. A cordial vote of thanks was also accorded to the Rev. A. R. Fitchett for his editorial services during the past year, with a request that he be reappointed editor of the "New Zealand Wesleyan." i The following is the list of ministerial stations, to be submitted to the Australian Conference, for tha ensuing ecclesiastical year : — Christchurch - - Rev.
