o {Pfes9 Association TeUffmms.) Dcjstkdin, December 4* Judgment was given this morning in appeal case, Macandrew & others v. M'Lean & others. Judgment for appellants. Mr Oliver for respondents, applied for leave to appeal to Privy Council. The Court did "not refuse application, but gave instructions that order for leave of appeal should not be drawn up till affidavit had been filed with registrars ; that the subject matter involved exceeded the value of £500. However, it was finally decided that no order of the Court be made till the hearing of counsel at Friday's sitting of the Court, upon the question. &9 to costs in the case. j Chkistchubch December 4. ■ In Provincial Council last night, it was moved that £20,000 be appropriated towards introducing families and single women from I Great Britain. Accounts of rush to Rock and Pillar, dated the 2nd, say that payable ground has been discovered in three gullies. Men earning from £2 to £3 per day. Over a hundred men are on the ground. Macraes is deserted. The Claude Hamilton arrived at the Bluff on the 3rd iusfc., and brought the following J cable telegrams :—: — j London, November 20. ! A serious cricis occurred at Versailles. M. Thiers has been unwell, and threatened to resign the Presidency nnless there was a large vote of confidence given on the various constitutional projects submitted to the Assembly. There is much uncertainty in consequence. November 21. The colonial wool sales opened this evening, •with a preponderance of home over foreum buyers. The bidding commenced ] with great spirit. Upwards of 4000 bales were offered, Cape of Good Hope wool preponderating. Combing and fleece were eagerly competed for, and prices ruled 2d better. Clothing and fleece were in fair demand and Id dearer. Prices have also advanced at the Liverpool sales. Viscount Canterbury has been created an EarL The appointment of Sir James Fergusson's successor in South Australia is deferred. November 22. The Versailles crisis continues. One hundred and eighty-nine metropolitan policemen have been dismissed from the torce for insubordination, and the ringleaders are being prosecuted. Nov. 23. . Consols, 92|. Eifty-five thousand bales were offered at the Colonial wool sales. An advance from Id to 2d has been made. There have been further large fires in America. _ Theirs consents to the adoption of a Parliamentary system of Government, with ministerial responsibilty. Germany supporets the Zanzibar expedition against the African slave trade, both morrlly and politically. The Admirality has selected a site at Greenwich Hospital for the erection of a memorial to the soldiers who fell in the New Zealand war. Anstralian shipments are increasing* New Zealand fives, 101 £ ; sixes, 111.
