THE MOON.
O, whew would be the Poet's power But for the lovely moon, .-Ai she rales in vaulted heaven. And the stars shine clear aboon. She lighted up the festive scene, ■„ blinkit bonnily, When Willie brewed his peck o' mtat, Asd Robin cam' to pree. Hit corn riggs and barley rigga Were lighted by the moon, . And guided by her witching smile He sang by bonny Doon. The Cumnoek hills were lighted up - To guide him o'er the hill, • - Where he met Death with scythe and dart, Close by to Wiliie's mill. ; * TTbft brightest scene iA Hallowe'en ' Were lost bat for the moon Where " Leezie's heart inaist lap the hool " , -As §atan gied & croon. ' By bright moonlight the Fairies dance r ■ 'Midst gems of pearly dew Bathed in her light the nightingale Telia o'er his love anew. : Oh ! brighly shine thou bonnie moon OuhillßofCaledon, Shine brightly oa ber waterfalls ■ Where dashing echoes moan ; And deck each flower by brook and bower With all thy silver sheen ; Adorn the turf where Robin sleeps And keep it ever green. ~ .
