STOCK REPORT.
Messrs Wright, Stephen-sox, and Co. report, for the week ending November Bth, as follows :
Fat CVtle. — 72 head were yarded, which, being a number in excess of trade requirements, were sold ai a slight reduction on late values. Our sales comprised 54 head, at from £6* 17s 5d to £10 12s 6d for bullocks, and £4 to £7 17s 6d for cows, equal to 27s' 6d per 100 lbs for prime quality ; 22s 6d to 25s for middling do.
Fat Sheep. —870 penned . We sold 217 half-bred 3at 183 tid each, and 150 merinos at 15a to 15s Gd. We quote prime halfVsrla, 4i;l per Ib ; ditto merinos, 4d. Fat Lambs. — 27 penned, which we sold at 11s 3d each.
Store Cattle. — There is a good demand for steers and dry cows for fattening, the former being worth £3 IDs to £4 ; and the latter £2 10s to £3 ss. Our sales comprise 150 head at quotations.
Store Sheep. — We have buyers for half-breds and shorn wethers, but there are no transactions to report.
Country Sales. — On Tuesday, sth inst., we held our monthly sales at Mosgiel, which, as usual, attracted a good attendance. We disposed of 148 store cattle, at from £3 15s to £4 53 for steers, and £2 L2s 6cl to £3 for heifers aud cows, and a few fat cattle' at £6 to £7 7s 6d. On Thursday, 7fch inst., our monthly sales at Palmerston took place. Buyers were numerous, arid competition spirited. 98 head of -cattle "were' disposed of £2 2s to L 4, >and^ fat cattle L 5 10s to L 7 7s 6d ; also, a few light draught horses, at froni Ll9 10s to L2B.
..Horses. — Good heavy,- draughts and coaching horses ''_. con tirine. in request; other sorts neglected. Next Saturday, we shall offer at dar yards', ex Tararua, from Melbourne, on account of Mr. John Trestrail, a very superior skinnient -of 33 heavy draught colts and fillies. We quote tivst-cliiss draughts, £45 to L 55;5 5; mediuui doj L2sio L 31 ); gqod hacks and light harness horses, L2O tt> L 25 ; medium do, Lid Ll4 ; light and inferior do. L 3 to L 5.
Wool, &c. : - The arrival of the Californian mail-; places us iri possession of no news regarding fhe ; wool' market. At our usual weekly .^sale on Wednesday last, wa offered and., disposed ,«f 2.Q bales washed! and greasy wo.ol, and lfepO^sheepskins and, hides. The prices, obtained "were : — For, washed slipe wool, merino, Is 6d per Ib { half-bred, 22d ; greasy meririo, I3£f station skins, merino, 3s lid to 03 lOd ; half-bred, Gs lOd to 8a 4d ; green skinsmerino, 63 lOd ; half-bred, 93 to 9a lOd. Hido3, 15s 3d to 17s. A few casks of tallow brought 33s to 33a 6<l perewt. "" Grain. —There continue*, a gaud 3«mand for first-Glass samples of wheat, of which very Uttle is offering, bnt we cannot, yet quote any advance on late rates.;' Outs are in brisk demand at 23 2d to 2s 3d per bushel for milling qualities, and 2s Id for feed.
