WASTE LANDS BOARD.

The Waste Lands Board met on the 4th mat. Present : The Chief Commissioner, Meser3. Allan, Duncan, and Hughes.

In the matter of Connell and Moodie's application for Caleb Dongee, a copy of the Warden's letter was directed to be forwarded to Pierce aud Washer, and ask what objection they have to draining into and crossing that race.

A letter from W. C. Chapman was read, correcting a. misstatetnent made to the the Board respecting the fencing on His rnn, which was referred to the Provincial Solicitor.

Francis Waddel and Robert Burn's application for a coal lease, was referred to the Warden, If no objections, an annual license, for some years, to be granted on the usual terms.

Mr. Warden Eobinson'B report respect* ing Mr. John Douglas's application for land at Hawkesbiiry was read. His deliberate opinion was that there was no such auriferous indication as to justify the Government in withdrawing the land It was resolved to recommmend the Government to appoint Mr. W. H. Valpy Ranger for the Central Hundred, from sale.

.On the objection of A. G. Begg, on behalf of Mr. John Dauglasa, to the survey of land at Hawksbury applied for by Orbell and Miller, Mr Orbeli's stHveyor waa directed to conform to the application.

Jackman & Co.'s rfiply to the application for paymeut of a lieeuse fee for cutting timber, that they are now cutting timber on their «>wn property, waa referred to the Ranger for report. The appointment of Sergeant Smith to be Crown Lands Ranger for the Wakatip district w«s approved.

Joseph Utting, (in his application for a coal lease, was referred to the ruuholdcr for his consent.

The application of James Patterson, of Clyde, for a reduction of rent, was declined.

Mr Brnnton's reply to a request for a sketch of the area at BH?h Sound, proposed to lie leased by him, was read, .^jj
