ALEXANDRA.
(From our own Correspondent.)
Nothing of importance has occurred in the district for the past week. All the companies on the river are making good use of their time, with an ample supply of water, and favorable weather. Most of the sluicing companies are growling in consequence of the great rise in iron. I would suggest to some of them to try some of our provincial timber, the hardest that can be got j have it 'cut into planks 14in. by 6in, or to suit the boxes, cross-cut it into blocks 4in. in length, and place it on its end in the boxes, and I am sure it will be a good substitute and at a less cost, doing away with|screwsand boring. For delivery boxes it could be made to save gold likewise.
It is mooted that a mining associntionHslto be formed in Alexandra, which will undoubtedly be one step in the right direction.
