TUAPEKA AND WAITAHUNA PLOUGHING MATCH,

A, meeting to arrange about the annual ploughing match was held in the Tuapeka Athensoum, on Monday evening last. Mr. John Drysdale occupied the chair.

Mr. Ferguson, in tho absence of the Secretary, Mr. Holmes, read the statement of receipts and expenditure for the last year, which, on the motion of Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Taborn, was adopted. From the statement, we observe that the total amount paid into the hands of the Treasurer was .£3O 75. ; and the amount paid out in prizes and expenses was £2S 9s. 6d.,* thus I leaving a balance in the hands of the Treasurer of £1 17s. Gd. In addition to this balance, it was stated that the turn of £6 17s. on last year's list had not been collected. A list of the names were read, which, without exception, were considered good. With that sum added, the balance from last year available for this season's match stood at £S 14s. 6d. After some discussion, it was decided to hold the match on or about the 25th of July. ! Mr. L. Holmes was re-elected Secretary, and Mr. A. Ferguson Treasurer. It was arranged that an advertisement be inserted in the " Tuapeka Times," inviting persons in the district who had suitable ground-, and were prepared to give it for the match, to intimate the same to the Secretary,. on or before Saturday evening, the 29th inst., when a meeting of the Committee would be held to decide upon the most suitable ground. Thefollowing<rentlemen were elected members of Committee: — Messrs. D. Evans, J. Drysdale, D. M'Clusky, M. Stewart, W. Auld, T. Grundy, A. Fraser, D. M'Rae, T. Darton, E. Hill, W. Draper, and G. Brook. The Secretary was instructed to communicate with each member of Committep, and give notice of a meeting to be held on Saturday next, in the Athenseum, at 8 o'clock punctually. The meeting then closed.
