TUAPEKA HOSPITAL.
A -special general meeting of subscri hers to the Tuapeka Hospital was held on Monday evening last at Bastings' Assembly Room. Mr. J . Harrop occupied the .chair.
The Secretary read the balance sheet .and statement, which showed that between the commencement of the year and March .31st there had been received, in .subscriptions, proceeds of entertainments, &c, £282 6s. Bd., and that on the latter date there was due subsidy to the amount of £487 os. 2d. £204 135. 6d. of the subsidy had since been paid, leaving a balance due of £282 6s. Bd. At the present time, reckoning the subsidy due, there was a balance in favour of the Hospital of £155 10s. lOd.
The report was received and adopted."
The Chairman stated that the next business was' the consideration of the j^gnation of Messrs. M'Beath, Farrer, Jj^Jtf'Swiney.
The Secretary stated that the gentle•jaen referred to having been elected without their consent, and not having acted, had withdrawn, not resigned.
Dr. Halley enquired whether anyone Jiaving been elected, and consenting to act, could resign, or was responsible for the whole yeat.
The Secretary understood that a member duly sleeted with his own consent was responsible for tlie whole year.
Messrs. Goldsmith, T. Barnett, and Phillip Uren were proposed,' and'-there being no other candidates, were declared .duly elected members of the committee. Mr. Harrop was elected Treausrer.
