PUBLIC THANKSGIVING FOR THE RECOVERY OF THE PRINCE OF WALES.

We have been requested by his Honor the Superintendsnt to give publicity to the following telegram received by him from the Colonial Secretary :—: — " The Governor has proclaimed Thursday, the ninth day of May, as a general holiday and a day fur a public thanksgiven to God for the restoration of H.R.H. the Prince of Wales to health, and invites the clergy and ministers of all denominations and all other of Her Majesty's subjects in New Zealand to observe that day accordingly."

A copy of the proclamation, will be published in the Provincia 1 Gazette immediately after its receipt from Wellington.
