TUAPEKA REEFS.
In the prospecting claim the work of breaking out stone has been temporarily •lisc'>n tinned The men arj now at worK driving along the reef from the main tunnel to the southward. The character of tho st'me is said to be improving greatly, and several first-rate prospects have been obtained. The work now beiug "dune by the prospectors will have the effect of demonstrating the course of the reef, and will prove valuable to the adjoining claim-holders on the southern side, who, we presume, will not lose any time in resuming opsrations when the direction the reof takes has been accurately ascertained. Tenders are being called in Dunedin, for machinery.
On Clayton's claim there has been some eavly work, which is more than likely to emnre litigation. It appears that a party of miners have jumped that claim. From what we have been informed, the jumping party, on Monday .last, compelled the men working to cease their operations and leave .the ground,- threw their tools aftvr them, and took possession, which they retain.
