THE BRADSHAW PETITION.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, — Some months ago I was aske.d to sign a requision calling on Mr. Bradshaw to resign his seat, as he had lost the confidence of his constituency, owing to the sale of the 45,000 acres to Mr. Clarke. I was only too happy ■to place my name to such a document. Now, what I want to know is this : Can you, Mr. Editor, or any of your numerous readers inform me if the said requisition was forwarded to the hon. gentlemen,' and if forwarded, what reply he gave to it ? I can assure you you that between Island Blocks, Big Blocks, and Shingle Blocks, the people in this district ought to adore Provincialism ; and further, before kicking the gentleman out of office, they

ought to present him with something substantial to show the esteem in which ho is held ; I would say a new hat, or a mantle, for instance. Of course I could not suggest a more expensive expression of my appreciation of the gentleman, as I am only a miner, and water is scarce this season. Many here thought that out of courtesy to his constituency he would have found time to come up and give an account of his stewardship last session ; but 1 suppose, knowing his past acts and what is in Btore for him, he dreads to meet the free and independent electors of the Waikaia district. — I am, &c, Minek.

Miller's Flat, 7th March.
