W James and wife, Dunedin ; Joseph Hoopr and wife, Dunedin. Of the seven appliants, the Committee considered that Trainer and M'Quillan were the most suitable, owing 'to their larger experieice of hospital work. Mr Hears proposed, and Mr.. Humphrey seconded, " That the application of Hi^h Trainer be accepted, contingent upon inquiries to be made by Mr. Bastings \hile in Dune'liu proving satisfactory." In supporting the proposition, Mr. Hears slid that the fact of Mr. Trainer having teen a wardsman in the Dunedin Hospital since 1867, and receiving such an esxsel'eut character from the House Steward, vas a sufficient guarantee that he would ke well adapted for the situation, Hit wife, also, having been laundress to tie same hospital for eighteen months, wa an additional recommenda- . tion. The motim was carried nem. con. Mr. Bastngs has been requested to make enqmr.es of Drs.Hnlme and Yates as to Trainees qualifications (as there was no testimonial from either of those gentlemen), and if satisfactory, the situation will be given t* him ; if not, M'Quillan wilj. receive thy appointment.
