WAKATIP HOSPITAL.

The following rules were drawn up by the Committee of the above named Hospital, for the approval of the annual meeting of contributors :—: —

1. The Hospital will afford surgical and medical aid under the Regulations following.

2. For the purpose of these Regulations the Wakatip District shall \e divided into sub-districts, as per schedule attached to these Rules, and such sub-districts are invited to elect, in public meeting, Local Committees for the following purposes :—: — 1. To arrange and conduct the collection of subscriptions in the sub-districts, and to provide for the payment of subscriptions at stated intervals to the Treasurer of the Hospital. 2. To deal with all applications for certifices of admission, to the Hospital, and to grant or refuse them to intending patients. And such Local Committees shall hold their meetings at intervals of not less than one month ; and at such meetings the Committee shall take into consideration any certificates which may have been signed by two of the body, and may alter, vary, or confirm such certificate in any way they may deem proper, and shall report such decision to* the Board.

3. The Hospital Board will issue tickets to constituted Local Coinmifctees, in the form contained in Schedule B ; and such tickets shall be accounted for to the hon. Treasurer of the Hospital monthly ; the tickets will not be transferable.

4. Any person who shall have paid the sum of £\ Is to the funds of the Hospitalshall receive a ticket (Schedule B), and such ticket shall entitle its holder to admission mto the Hospital at^any time during the twelve months following the date of the ticket, upon his paying at the rate of 10s per week in advance for his board : provided always that no person shall be entitled to the benefits of a subscriber's ticket unless such ticket shall bear date at least two months prior to his seeking admission to the Hospital, unless he prove to the satisfaction of the Board that he has not lad the opportunity to procure one: And provided further that a certificate shall be produced by him to the medical officer of the Hospital,, signed by two members of Local Committee, that he is not in a position to procure medical attendance outside the Hospital: And provided further, that in all cases the Resident Surgeon shall be the sole judge of the fitness of such subscriber to be an inmate of the Hospital.

5. In all cases of emergency the Resident Surgeon shall be empowered to admit patients without the production of a certificate ; but in the event of any such patient not being provided with a subscriber's ticket, aud refusing to pay tne maximum board of Sfl per week, his case shall be referred to the Local Committee of the subdistrict, to fix the amount of his board payments. The admittance of any emergency case shall be reported in writing by the Resident Surgeon to the next visiting Committee after such admission.

6. Any persou who shall be admitted under Rule 5, and who shall not have become a subscriber to the Hospital, shall, unless he is provided with a certificate from two members of his Local Committee that he is absolutely destitute of means, pay for board at the rate of £2 per week in advance.
