THE WASTE LANDS BOARD.

The usual weekly meeting of the Waste Lands Board was held on Wednesday last.

Messrs. Connell and Moodie, for Mr. Joseph Clarke, applied to have plans of application, No. 402 D, for 45,500 acres, forming part of runs 215 and 212, approved, and have Mr. Clarke declared the purchaser. It was resolved that the question as ta reserving for school purposes a part of the ground applied for be referred to Mr. Hislop for his report thereon, and that the consideration of sale be postponed till Monday next.

A report was read from Warden Borton, on an application from Messrs. Mylrea and Roese, fo. 1 a leise of 50 acres of land for a lime work, [t was resolved that tho applicants be informed that if they obtained the consent of the runholder, and furnished a survey, and stated a maximum price per bushel at which they would deliver the lime, &c. for the approval of the Board, a lease would be granted upon the usual terms.

Warden Carew reported on an application from Mr. S. C. Worth, for a grant of 10 acres for a mill site at Spottis Creek. It was resolved that, subject to his obtaining the runholder's consent, a lease be granted to him for the land ; but he must seek to obtain water rights under the Goldfields Regulations, as the Board had no power to grant them.

Mr. Charles Nicholson wrote, objecting to the decision of the Board on the apportionment of the valuation for improvements on section 9, block 11., Ettrick. The letter was read.

The question of Ranger Hughan, as to whom the fines payable under clause 8 of the Regulations of Management of Pasturage in Hundreds, should be paid, was referred to the Provincial Solicitor.

The district Land Officer desired to know whether a deposit paid on an application for a pre-emptive right, under clause 6 of the Otago Hundreds Regulation Act, 1870, secui'ed it from being forfeited. It was resolved to inform him that unless the balance is paid within time, and in terms of the Act, the deposit would be forfeited.
