LOYAL WAITAHUNA LODGE, M.U.0.0.F.

(From a Correspondent).

The usual half-yearly meeting of tbe above Lodge, for the election of oflicers, took place on Thursday, 28th December, when the following brothers were elected to the various offices :—: — P.V.G. Bro. Craven to N.G. ; Bro. Hamilton, V.G. ; and Bro. Nation was re-elected E. 8., tbe duties of which 'office he has fulfilled during two Besfsions in such a satisfactory manner i that tbe Lodge unanimously directed a vote of thanks, to be recorded on the books of the Lodge. A vote of thanks was also recorded to Bra. J. Tarnbull fop his efficient services as treasurer during the five years the Lodge has been in existence. It was unanimously decided to accompany this vote with a suitable testimonial, and a committee

was appointed to arrange the affair.' After thanks to the retiring and healths to the newly-elected officers had been given and responded to, the Lodge was closed in due form. At the half-yearly financial meeting, held on Thursday, sth January, the auditors gave in the following report — Officers and Brothers, — In accordance with onr appointment a 9 auditors, we hnve much pleasure in reposing that after a very ca'-efnl and searching examination of all books, vonohers, &c. it affords us very great; satisfaction in certifying that they are correct in every particular, and that there i« great credit due to the Permanent Secretary, Bro. S. Wilson, f>r the clear and concise manner in which they are kept. The following digest of the balance sheet accompanying the report will show the satisfactory position of the Lodge at the present time : — The amount to credit of the sick and funeral fund at last audit (June 30, 1871) ■ was £339 16s. 3d. The receipts during the half-year amount to £67 9s. Od. ; the payments in sick relief, £3L da. 6d.; leaviug a present balance of £-125 15s. 9d. — being au increase of £35 19s. Gd. for tbe half-year ending December 31. There is also shown a balance ef £12 ! Us. 3.Yd. to the incidental expense fund ; and the total value of the Lodge is stated as £449 75., and the number of members at G2. During the time the Lodge has been established, there has beeu expended in sick relief and funeral donations: — Sick relief, £20J< 14s. 4J., given to ten members, three of whom have died, and with two wives of members, make the amount expended in funeral benefit, £80, showing a total of £284 14s. 4<d. expended in sick and funeral benefits.
