ROXBURGH SCHOOL EXAMINATION.
The Annual Public Examination of the Roxburgh School, was held on the 23rd ult., in the presence of a number of the parents of the children and seycral^members of the School Committee. The teacher examined the pupils in the various branches of education studied during the year ; and the result was productive of much sal isfaction to all. In addition to these prizes, Mr. Beighton kindly distributed a number of toys which were certainly very' acceptable. I almost omitted. to say that- specimen's of the .writing and the drawings were' exhibited 'on the desks, and showed care and skill in execution.
After examination the children were addressed by Mr. Bortou, who, in the course of oft a'few appropriate remarks, said that' be^and the other members of Committee present were much pleased with the condition" of the school, and particularly so with regard to the Reading, the .Geography, and the Arithmetic. The order maintain6d in the school was gratifying. He re- 1 commended the scholars to take advantage of their favourable opportunities for progress and improvement, and was he glad to say the sympathy aud good-feeling exisfcijigjn.the school were what they ought to" be.
