AH ! YEARS HAVE LOITERED BY, MOTHER. ,
Ah ! years have loitered by, mother, A weary, weary while. Since last I saw thy gentle face. With its sweet, patient smile ; Since last I felt thy fingers light Pass fondly through my hair, As «.t thy knee I knelt at night To suy ivy childish jjrayer.
Into the waild I've gone mother. The olil home lefc liebuiilrNew tits of friendship and of love A'sout my heart have twined. Yet in its holiest lecess. All dry and joyless srill, There lies one well of tenderness No eurihly love caa fill.
Thy self-forgetful care, mother, Thy couusel ever near ; Thy sympathy with every joy, r J hy grief for every tear ; Thy loving glance, thy tender tone. Thy warm kiss ou my brow — Gone from my life, for ever gone !—! — I know thair value now.'
