ROMAN CATHOLIC SCHOOL

(To the, Editor. )

Siu, — We wish, through the medium of your paper, to express our disgust at the manlier in which we have boon treated by the R. C. School Committee in connection with the tendering for the proposed new school. We had been given to uiuler«ran<l that if the work was let, it was sure to be given to Mr. Macknoy, consequently we did not feel inclined to waste time and trouble to make out tenders, and had made up our minds not to do so ; but being prevailed upon by the Rev Father Larkin, and some members of the Committee, we did make out tenders according to plans and specifications (with this exception, that we undertook to provide all new materia 1 ) furnished by Mr. Lawson, architect, of Duuedin.

From what we have since heard, the successful tenderer put Mr. Lawson'9 specification aside, and provided one instead, drawn up by instructions received from some members of Committee, according to which he ten-* dorod, and his tender was accepted,

although it was moro than £200 above the lowest.

Wo should like to know what right the Committee had to induce ua to spend our time for their benefit, unless they meant to treat u« fairly. If they wished, to give their work to one individual, they had a perfect right to do so ; but we most emphatically protest against being iuducecl to lose outtime uselessly by the above Committee, or any other body. — "We are, &c, Alex. Humphrey W. Hears G-EOKGE i\roßJßO>Datid M'Doxald Lawrence, 6th December.
