. Lots'bokt, October Ist. . At thjs season's 'wool sales, 36,189 ■bales have been "sold up to date. The market opened at Id to l£d per lb. in advance ;oji all descriptions. This has since increased fully 2d over' "the July rate.- Lincoln hoggs are dull at Is' id, whetbers are at 2s, Southdown ewes at Is 10a, Irish hoggs at 2s Id, and Irish whe£bers.at2s. The present rate of " consumption promises .the maintenance of -firm rates for the next, few monthst A further advance in Manilla hemp has materially assisted the market for New Zealand flax. 1353 bales realised full rates. Medium and partly cleaned were sold at £24 to £26 10s ; good medium at £29 ; good and fine cleaned at £32 to £33 10s. In the corn markets, since the 11th September, a fall of from 6d to Is per quarter has taken place, owing to millers being stocked. Tho quotatiou for New Zealand wheat is G2s per quartet*, but much of the New Zealand wheat lately arrived has been in bad condition, and only saleable at 455-for cattle feed- or starch-making. The cause of the damage is supposed to be bad harvesting . Por tallow there bas been a fair •amount of competition. Mutton tallow is quoted at 33s to 435, and beef do. at, 36s to 42b. New Zealand stocks have been arrested by the heavy parcels • being brough into the market, but since the consolidation of the bonds the prices have been higly satisfactory.
