SATURDAY,NOVEMBER 4TH.
All Pieung was charged by Lawrence Johnston, Tuapeka Flat, with having, on Friday, stolen potatoes and a clothes-iine, his property. The accused pleaded " Not guilty," although he wa3 caught redhanded in the very act, both by Johnston and the policeman. This specimen of humanity presented a demeanour of stolid indifference to all around. His own countrymen pronounced him as periodically insane. He was sent to Dunedin Gaol for a period of two months.
