The second anniversary of the Loyal T/ipanui Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., was celebrtred by a Rupper and ball on the 6th inst., in Host Hewitt's Tapanui Hotel, and was a great success. Supper w«s paitaVen of lya large company, who, having gone through the usual toasts and songs, adjourned to the ball-room, where dancing was kept up until seven o'clock next morning. Thk Waitahuna Dramatic Club gave a performance in Bastings' Assembly Boom, on Mon day evening, for the benefit of the Tuapekn Hospital, There was a fair attendance, conside- ing the unfavourable state of the weather, and the performance was well received. Great credit is due to the Club, especially tv the ladies who ventuied to face wind and rain in order to augment the funds of the Hospital and edify find amuse the people in these parts.

The Tuapeka Cricket Club commenced practice on Friday last, when there was a good imiiter of playing members. We understand that a scratch match is shortly to take plane.
