A CORRECTION.
(To the Editor.)
Str, — '* John Clearsight "in your issue of the 27th ult. has been, I think, rather too severe upon both the Moa Flat School Committee and Mr. Hislop. Ido not doubt but that both are perfectly able to, defend themselves in the transactions recorded in John's letter.
As the gentleman whose "appointment, &c," let me thank him for the compliment, but at the same time correct him as to the " private friendship " business. There is none at all in it. Had the Committee so desired. T should have been obliged to ntny til) May Bth, but that would not have prevented me from occupying my present position, so far as I can judge. I reyret that a flourishing school should have been broken up as it has been, but as every effect proceeds from a cause, should there be any law business between the dismissed teacher and the Committee, I fear sadly the cause will be made very apparent, and that not to tlie advantage of* the former. Apologising for troubling you about the correction. — I am, &c, W. J. Switzers, July 28, 1871.
