CROOKSTON.

(Fiom a Correspondent.)

It affords me great pleasure to send you a few notes from this quarter. 1 am glad to say that since thef settlement of the land question, this district is making rapid progress. Mr. Eae of the Junction Hotel has a large paddock of about M) 0 acres fenced in, and is waiting the arrival of a steam plough from Melbourne. I had great pleasure in paying a visit to M'Leod and Bonnet's farm, and inspected two new double ploughs (Scotch patent) which are doing Borne excellent work. These farmers have also erected a large aud commodious dwelling house on their new farm. Mr. Rae's new stables, containing six stall?, are about completed. I may further add that Messrs. M'Leod and Bennet, have imported different varieties of oats direct from Scotland ; the samples look well, especially the long tail oats. I was also shewn some excellent samples of wheat. In a short time a great portion of this fine district will be under cultivation instead of lying a dreary waste in a wild and uncultivated state with a few straggling sheep and cattle as has been the case heretofore. It is capable of supporting a large population, who will yet add materially to the revenue of the Government, and add prosperity to the province. The Government have acted wisely with this block of land, and I trust they will act in a like judicious manner with the various other blocks of land throughout the province.
