WATER SUPPLY FOR THE BLUE SPUR.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, — Alloivme as one having an interest in the scheme, to make a few remarks in reference to a letter signed W. 1). Morrison, which appeared in your issue of the 9r.h instant. While believeinpc -tii.vt amalgamating the water races would be the means of saving endless litigation, and benefiting the Spur claim holders in other waj^s, I fail to see that Mr. Mormon has thrown out any other practical suggestions aa to how this is to be brought about, than those affecting his own particular interest. A reference to the map of the Spur will show how Mr. Morrison and others are situated. I do not think it at all likely that Mr. Morrison's scheme will succeed, as there is little probability of the race- ownern becoming unanimous. My own impression is that inducements, well backed upwith petitions,

should be offered to the Government, to purchase the races at market prices.* In the hands of the Government, the income derived from these races would construct, other important works, and from £600 to £701) a year could be saved in the working expjnsos. This seems to me to be the only means of settling this gr< at question of Waier Supply for the Spur, and should it not be adopted I fear things are likely to remain in staiu qito. — I am &c. Leaseholder. .

Blue Spur, March 13.
