From your long residence amongst us, and consequent knowledge of the requirements of the District — your untiring energy and undaunted perseverance in assisting to carry out all matters for its social and commercial improvement — your well known liberal and advanced ideas — we feel convinced that the District and Province will materially benefit should you be placed in the position of our Representative in the Council. We feel the less hesitation in making this request seeing that the trust lately held by others has be en so mis-used, to the detriment of local progress and general retardment of the best interests of the Colony, and we are confident that, should you be returned, you will use j your best endeavours to repair past evils, and by judicions co-operation with others of similar expanded views, asaist in placing the Province and Colony in its once boasted position, viz., the " Britain of of the South."
