mUAPEKA RAILWAY AND WATER 1 SUPPLY PROGRESS COMMITTEE, having for its object the obtaining of a fair proportion of the proposed New Zealand Loan for Public Works ; for a Railway to Lawrence in conjunction with the Southern Trunk Line ; and for the Supply of Water to the Goldfields — desire to point out that in order to fortify the Convention in their course of action, a considerable sum of money will be required ; and they ask every resident in the district, who desires to see it advance, and who does not desire to see the burden of taxation increased without any benefit to the district, is earnestly invited to assist. The following are a few of the purposes for which Funds will be absolutely required :—: — For making preliminary surveys, and obtaining engineering assistance in laying out the proposed works. For taking evidence as to the best means of increasing the water supply. For printing, stationery, and literary assistance. If supported by the public, the Convention entertain sanguine hopes of success in their undertaking.
