(Before the same Magistrate.)

Murray v. Thompson. — Claim £2, being the value of three pieces of timber which the defendant had appropriated to his own use. Mr. M'Coy for plaintiff. The evidence went to prove that the timber was the property of the plaintiff. J udgment for £ 1 and costs.

Same v. Same. — Defendant was charged with having violently assaulted and abused the plaintiff. Mr. M'Coy for plaintiff. The evidence went to show that an altercation had taken place between the parties on account of the pieces of timber. That a scuffle had taken place, and blows had been given (the face of the plaintiff showing unmistakeable signs). The weight of the evidence was in favour of plaintiff. Defendant was fined in the sum of £6, including all costs.

Inspector of Nuisances v. William M'Beath. — Adjourned case. The nuisance having been abated, the case was dismissed.

Alexander Falconer was charged with being drunk and disorderly at Docherty's hotel, on 23rd September last. Fined 20s. and costs of court.
