SILENCE IS WISDOM

(To tM Editor of the Tuapeka Times)

Sir, — The finding a person capable and competent to fill the very onerous and the very important office of Town Clerk and Rate Collector for the important town of Lawrence, has been the subject of talk for some days. It is said that there is only one man in the district who can do so with honour and credit to the municipality. Let me, with the greatest honesty, advise those councillors and others who are busily engaged in a scheme to fill the vacancy, to speak low — so low, indeed, as not to divulge their plans or pain the ears of one who wishes to have nothing to do with the business, and who does not wish to mix in their assembly. — I am, &c, , HoNfisir.
