" NOT LOST, BUT GONE BEFORE." Two little babes, Children of Earth, Lovely at birth, Promising health fulness, happiness, joy, Nipt in the bud, Quenched ere they stood On the threshold of life, which at best is alloy. Two little stars, Born of the sky, Lent fiom on high, Bright was their smile while they shone on us here ; Now merged is their ray In the light far away, illumes and encircles the glorified sphere. Two little mounds, Of green grassy sod, In the garden of God. Brief was the bloom and the blight of our flowers, Yet they sleep the best sleep, The perfected reap, Ever hushed by the chime of eternity's hours. Two little spirits (Waf bing their song From the angelic throng) Beckon us onward and upward +o soar'; They stretch forth a hand From the Golden Land, Greeting us heavenward ever more.
