DISTRICT COURT.
(Before His Honour Mr. Justice Grey.) Friday, April 22. The Court sat at 11 a m. A complicated case, M'Kee v. Motherwell.—Claim of £148, for board and lodging extending over a period of about four years, reduced to 100 to bring the case within the jurisdiction of the Court. Mr. Keen (from Mr. Ward's office) appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. Copland, Solicitor, for the defendant. A setoff of more than the amount was put in, in which the amount claimed by plaintiff was credited, and another £100 (out of an account of over £400) claimed to be recovered ; but Mr. Copland intimated that the defendant disputed plaintiff's claim, and a considerable argument as to whether this would be within the jurisdiction of the Court took place, which being adjusted, the case was proceeded with. At one o'clock, after the examination of a couple of witnesses for the plaintiff, the Court adjourned for an hour, and at the expiry of that time Mr. Copland and Mr. Keen appeared and informed the Court that the case had been settled. The case was therefore struck out.
