THE WAITAHUNA AND TOKOMAIRIRO CRICKET MATCH.
(From our Waitahuna Correspondent.)
On Thursday evening, at about 4 o'clock, we made a start for Tokomairiro, the rain descending in a perfect torrent soon drenched us to the skin. The almost inaccessible Round Hill being surmounted in about three hours, something over one mile an hour, we afterwards made more rapid progress towards Tokomairiro, which place we reached about 9 p.m., and through the courtesy and kindness of Mr. and Mrs. Bradley, of the Commercial Hotel, we were soon comfortably esconced by the ingle-side with a dry suit of raiment. The next moming, about half-past ten, we wended our way to the meddow where we were to .play. The sky, although overcast, showed a sign of fine weather. Soon after 11 o'clock the Tokomairiro cricketers made their appearance on the ground. The toss having been won by the Tokomairiro captain, we were sent to the wicketa. The day was fine throughout.
