WAIPORI SCHOOL.
On Thursday, the 36th of December, the children of the Waipori School were examined by Beresford Cairnes, Esq. , and the following were the successful prize takers :—: —
Ist Class — Geo. Rayners, Ist ; Fred. Knight, 2nd ; Thomas Pilling, 3rd. 2nd Clffss — Mary Page, Ist ; Elizabeth Lewis, 2nd ; Mary Jane Pilling, 3rd.
3rd Class — "William Manley, Ist ; Elizabeth Rayners, 2nd ; James Glover, 3rd.
On Friday, the 17&, Mr. Buchanan, Chairman, distributed the prizes to the above children, also a book to every child in the school ; after which, he addressed the children, pointing out to them the advantages they enjoyed, and urging them to take advantage thereof. He also congratulated Mr. Baker, the Schoolmaster, on the successful result of his labours, and the recognition of his abilities by the Education Board, who have recently granted him a certificate as Main School Teacher.
After the examination the children were regaled with lollies, fruit, &c. , by Messrs. Cable, Cox, Knight, and Cairnes.
