CRICKET.

(To the Editor of the Tuapeka Times.) Sir, — As an ardent admirer of thegame of cricket, 1 have been much diaap-. pointed at the delay which has occurred in taking steps to form a club in Lawrence. If • anything is to be done this. season, I think it. is quite time a commencement was made. If Mr. Downes, vrhoae proficiency in cricket is so well known, were to take the matter in hand, and exercise a little of his natural energy, I for one would have no fear as to the result. I would suggest that a meeting of those who are willing to subscribe be called as early as possible, so that offiee-T bearers, &c, may be elected, days appointed for practice, and for the transaction of other business calculated to place- x the club on a fium basis. — I am, &c, Mid- Wicket.
