SHAKESPEARE'S TOMB.
,The nevor-oeasinj waves of Time hnve hin led Multitudes innumerable into gloom, And marked with ruin anil rtcc.iy the world, But left untouched immortal Shakespeare's tomb. Unnumbered centuries shall taite their fligbt. And mighty empires fall into decay ; Age after a?e shall sink in endless night, And sceptred kings, forgotten, pass away ; .Those lofty pyramids, that tower sublime O'er Egypt's wilderness, shall fall at last Beneath the inevitable hand of Time, And sink into the darkness of the past ; Bat Shakspeare's tonib shall never cease to shine, A thing of light amid a world of gloom : It is a fabric reared by hands divine, . And deathless as his name shall be his tomb. Then roll, ye waves ! sweep multitudes away ! Ye cannot bring this fabric to decay. Jaquus. Dunedin, Nov. 29, 1869.
