AN ANSWER,

(To the Editor of ilia Tuape/ca Times.) Sir,— lf " Seatholder'^had read what he supposes lie i-eplies to, he would scarcely have found the "gi'ievoug complaint" he writes about in my letter. It may be very convenient, but it is scarcely fair, to talk about what is only incidentally mentioned in sxich terms. Had he heard (as I have) members of the congregation proposing to treat the subscription lists in a similar manner to the memorial — that is to say, as they are supposed to be of no weight in congregational matters, they should leave to the communicants all the burden of the contributions — he would have had some hint of what was meant ; but having clue respect for a well-known command, I shall not attempt to enlighten him any more. I should have taken no notice of his effusion (seeing that it does not bear at all on the point at issue), but that he "is of opinion I should be asiiamed to meet the Committee." It is the very thing I proposed to do : for where or how could a humble individual like myself meet that august body but in a congregational meeting ? My name is quite at his service, if he applies for it ia a proper manner (I will not insult so accomplished a gentleman by supposing he is ignorant of the mode) , but lam not ambitious of seeing my name in print, nor particularly anxious to know his. — I am, &c, PIIESBYTERIAST. Wetherstones, Oct. 26th, 1869.
