DRINKING HABITS.
(To the Editor of the Ttiapeka Times.) Sir, — I observe in some of the papers', accounts of the successful establishment of a Total Abstinence Society at On train. Tins should act as an example, and should stimulate all who are willing to wage a good fight against King Alcohol to° renewed exertions. At present, drink i 3i 3 the curse of this place. Owing to the absurd custom of shouting, men are led on to perilling their souls by excess, who might, under a better system, never have polluted tlieir mouths with the destroying beverage. I appeal to every one if this is not true, and if the evil is so evident, why should the remedy be so unpopular ? There are only a few prejudices to overcome to make teetotal societies as popular as any in the place. Who will take the lead in this noble work? — lam, &c,
Abstainer.
