HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.

The usual meeting of Hospital Committee was held in the Commercial Assembly Room, on Tuesday evening. Present — Messrs. Bastings (in the chair), Smith, Henderson, M'Nickle, Mears, Hayes, Farrer, Keen, and Simpson. A letter from the Secretary of the Athenaeum Committee, offering the use of the library to patients for £5 per annum, was received, and the offer accepted. A letter from Mr. Bulfin, Secretary to the Assembly Room Committee, Waitahuna, stating that the committee had, in hand, £15, the result of a dramatic performance for the benefit of the Hospital, and further asking whether by sending the amount, in" one name they could not claim the same privileges as other subscribers. The Secretary was instructed to reply, referring Mr. BulSn to the answer given to a similar application from his predecessor, Mr. Pearson, which, stated that in terms of clauses 5 and 0 of the Hospital regulations, by nominating one of their number to pay over the amount, the committee will be entitled to the same privileges as any other subscribers. The following tenders were then opened : — Groceries— a3 per tender, Macfickle, Lawrence (accepted). M'Cluskey, Wetherstones. Milk — P. Robertson, sd. per quart (accepted). Firewood — J. Overend, L 2 Is. (accepted) Mr. H. Smith, L 2 6s. 6d. Lignite— J Overend, 16s. per ton (accepted). Bread — Clarke, 9d. per 4 IV. loaf (accepted). Interment of dead — Mears, at L 2 (accepted). Meat — Smith, as follows, was accepted : — Beef — fore-quarter, 3d per lb., chine, 4d. per lb., prime ribs, 4Jd. per lb., hindquarter — rump, 4d. per lb. surloin, 5d., per lb., buttock, 4Jd., per lb., gravy beef — fore-quarter, no bone, 3|d., hindquarter, 3|d., mutton— by the side, 2d. per lb., legs of beef — Is 6d. each, shins — gratis.

Mr Hayes succeeded Mr Keen as a member of the visiting committee. There being no other business, the meeting dispersed.
