CORRESPONDENCE.
WALLACE ELECTION.
(To the Editor of the Tuapeka Times'.)
Sir, — Great excitement prevails in Tapanui at present, owing to the forthcoming election. A few nights ago, one of the candidates addressed a large concourse of electors and non-electors in ths Town Hall ; the chair being occupied by one of our wealthy " Woollies." One oi our high-3pirited residents, though weak, would appear to be covered with a reversable coafcj the one side plain, and the other woolly ; for through the influence of the above-mentioned, he produced the woolly side of his coat, much to tiie astonishment of those present, by trying to make them vote to the woolly side ; but if the self same gentleman does not look out what he is about, he will cause enmity between himself and the public, upon whom he depends ; and I must certainly say that he should lay aside all politics, and pursue his own duties if he wishes to gain the favour of the residents of Tapanui. — I am, &c,
One Pbesent.
