BLUE SPUE.

(From our Own Correspondent.) Tho annual public meeting of the Library was held in tho School on Monday evening. Mr. John Cormack in the chair. The Secretary (Mr. M'Lelland) read the report, which showed that there had been added to the Library during the past year, one hundred and thirteen volumes of standard works, suitable to every class of readers. This makes up tho entire strength of the Library to 411 volumes. A tabulated report was laid on tho table of books read during the year, showing how many times they had been out. The number of subscribers wcro 53 and ths entire exchanges 805, being 237 over 1867-8. Tho proceeds during the year amounted to £25 ; disbursements, £23 15s. 6d. ; balance in favour of tho Library, £1 4s. 6d. ; i tho Government owe in books, £2. Thus making a total balance in favour of the Library of £3 4s. 6d. Report and balance sheet were received. Thanks were voted to the Returning Committee, and to the Librarian.

Mr. John Cormack was again voted to the chair, and a new comniitteo was elected, consisting of Messrs. M. D. Morrison, John Cormack, John Carey, W. .M'Lelland, W. , Osborne, G-. Husband, T. F. Morris, John King, and Andrew Ree. After the meeting connected with the Library, the Mutual Improvement Society held its meeting. Mr. Georgo Husband in the chair.

Mr. Manuel gave a reading from old Humphrey, " How to make other people happy," after which the debate took place, subject: "Female Suffrage." The chief speakers were Mr. John Carey, Mr. Lange, Mr. M'Lelland, and Mr. John Cormack. At a late hour (10 o'clock) an adjournment was proposed and carried, and will T)e continued next Monday evening. The essay for next Monday is on matrimonial snarls, by Mr. T.'.F. Morris. As this is a new subject and from a wellknown author, we may expect a treat. Mr. W. Osborne is appointed to take the chair,
