WINTER.

A bitter and chilling time ; A sun without heat or power fFo waken again to life The bloom of the ladye's tower. Summer had come and gone ; Hope had withered away ; •The ladye sat, and signed Where the oak shed leaflets grey. iTlxe bright green bud of spring, The glowing blossom of June, Smirched and faded and hoar, SVith an aching heart attune. A tread on the weed-grown path ; A voice in the frosty air : Put from the crimson west A glory shone on the pair ; {■Shone on the tender and fond, And shone on the gallant and true j And the buds of another Spring Did the gentler breezes woo..
