The Rev. P. S. Maggetts examined. He visited Tapanui, and was forcibly struck with the appearance of the country. Prom the opinion he had formed of the country, he should feel inclined to invest in land there, as he considered the district more attractive than any other unsold portion of the province he knew of. It was likely if he settled in that district, some of his friends from England would be induced to come out to settle also.
J. T. Thomson, Chief Surveyor, examined. He described the country as one-third agricultural and two-thirds pastoral.
