ORIGINAL POETRY. TO MIT YOUNGEST SISTER.

Auuie dear,- thy youthful face In dreauis I offcinies see, And then tho» are the loving one That fondly dung to mo. , ' I roam aoross*the meadows green, And cull the daises f«ir, And twine a modest snowy wreath To deck thy auburn hair. MethinkS I hear the crystal brook, That murmured on its way, Or song of mavis in the wood, At silent close of day. Dost thou reiuembor, sister dear, When roaming wild and free, From flower to fiower, with eager haste, We chased the honey bee !

Or rested 'neath some shady bower, Down in the bosky dell ; • Or played around the old oak tree In youth we loved so well ! \Ve gathered beries ripe and red From off the tangled brae>. "We heeded not tlie flight of time In those bright sunny days. They tell we, Annie, thou art changed — A stately maiden grown ; That thou art not the little one I used to call my own ; But momVy holds, iv sacred trust, A likeness, love, of you,— Tlie same as when I kissed thee last. And bade a snd adieu !

Tho' Time, fieroo rider, waiting not, But, hurrying on his way, , Aud leaving on his earthly track . The symptoms of decay. Hath changed thyform, thyyouthfulbrow, ' Thy voice, once full of glee, — ■ . Tho' all things change, love, say I am In meni'ry dear to me I E.L.T. Tokomairiro, April, 1569.
