Police y. Cronquist. — This case was further adjourned until Saturday, the 3rd April. The manager of the bank at Dunedin was summoned to appear but failed to do so, the Bench severely remarking upon the conduct of the bank in thus inconveniencing the court and the course of justice. He remarked further that it was a growing evil, the non-attendance particularly of parties summoned. He as yet forbore as this was not a pressing necessity, but some day he would show them how he regarded such conduct by promptly issuing a warrant. ""

The Queen v. Conroy. — Conroy alias McDermot, alias Con Murphyj was charged on remand from Dunedin with having stolen some wearing apparel in, December last from one James Dow," a shepherd on the Bellamy station. As Dow was absent the police applied for a remand to enable them to produce Dow, who had lately gone in the direction of the Wakatipu. Police v.
