LAMMERLAW CREEK BRIDGE.

(To the Editor of the Tuapeka Times.)

Sir, — In a "local" of your issue of 13th inst. as you state that the money for a bridge over the Lammerlaw Creek was " extorted" from Government by the Progress Committee here, it is but justice to say that in this instance the expression is wholly misapplied, inasmuch as the cost of the bridge was inchided in a sum placed on last year's estimates for works urgently needed in the district, and which were promptly and satisfactorily executed.

I am, &c, Henry McCat, Hon. Sec. Waipori Progress Committee. Waipori, March 15.
