DR. JENNER.

(To Hie Editor of the, Tiuvpeka Timts.) Sir, — Having heard from many persons that the letter signed " Anglican" which appeared in your last issue is attributed to me, allow me to state that I never saw or heard of it until I saw it in print — a statement wliich you can, of course, endorse. I am quite willing to own the authorship of " Crux" in the Tuapeka Press of the 6th ult., the reply to which in your issue of the 13th ult., signed " Rot, at all Cross," drew forth the letter of "Anglican"; but although I quite endorse all that " Anglican" says, save the last two sentences of his ietter, I so utterly disapprove of the manner in which he (to my mind) insults cur clergy in those two sentences, that I must request you- to insert this disclaimer. I have too much real reverence for the clergy (liowever much I may upon some points differ from them) ever to speak of them or oven to think of them as " Anglican" has done. Perhaps if I reverenced the clergy less 1 should be less a believer in Dr. Jtnner than I am. Herein, however, I am not ashamed. I am, &c, John L. Shadtveii Keen. Lawrence, sth March, 1869. [Wo can certify to the truth of this disclaimer on tlie part of Mr. Keen, the letter signed "Anglican" was certainly not written by hi»n, and we have every reason to believe even Mr. Keen is not acquainted with the real author. — Ed. T. T]
